Nobody-buying-your-stuff

Nobody buying your stuff? Here’s why…

Nobody woke up this morning and said: “I think I will browse the internet for something to buy!”

OR

“I think I’ll buy something at my networking group this morning from whoever has the best pitch”

Nobody is buying your products or services because no one wants your stuff!

Please, don’t be offended, I’m not trying to be harsh; people don’t want my stuff either!

People are looking for solutions to their problem … they want to:

  • Ease or cure for their pain (physical or emotional)
  • Overcome their fears of the future
  • Achieve their desires or goals

If you are out there promoting your products or services … it is pointless and breaks every marketing rule ever shared!

You need to avoid general promotions like “Seven reasons to hire a (insert your service here) today” and instead talk about a very specific problem you can solve for them today.

Since you can’t give a full sales pitch, pick your title and topic carefully.

Make a list of your target market’s top three goals and top three problems and create a workshop or a blog article or a webinar around it.

Then promote your solution through social media, email, networking etc. The introduction  needs to be short but effective.

It should follow this basic formula:

If you’re struggling with [this problem] come to [this event/read this article] and I’ll teach you how to [this solution].

Nobody wants be sold something, but everyone will buy solutions to their problems. That’s the goal of your marketing, or at least it should be.

It’s about being education/solution based, not sales-based.

What do you think? Let’s keep the conversation going below…

Great post, Colm. Helping clients solve problems is the way to go to be successful. Teaching is the new way to sell.
